Course presentation.
The current environment, accentuated by the continuation of the crisis due to Covid-19, confronts risk managers with new and particularly critical challenges: economic recession, government debt levels set to rise sharply, interventionist and unconventional policies by national governments and central banks, interest rates at historic lows, and heightened volatility are just some of the factors to which risk managers of banking institutions and financial companies will have to respond appropriately.
While there is a growing understanding that risk management is one of the priorities at the strategic level, the vehemence of the current crisis confronts risk managers with new questions, in some cases challenging operational models and approaches adopted to date.
A proper "risk culture" cannot be delegated solely to certain specialist figures within the company but must be spread throughout a company. Even in asset management, risk management is no longer relegated to a mere ex-post function of risk control but constitutes an integral part of the portfolio strategy, along with the achievement of a performance appropriate to the client's needs. In the 2021 edition of the training course, to integrate sustainability into risk management, a module dedicated to climate and environmental risks and the resulting prudential measures has been added.
In this context and to provide concrete support to the operators in the square, the Centro Studi Villa Negroni (CSVN) and the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Lugano (USI) continue their collaboration, offering a training path directed primarily at risk managers active in the banking sector and risk managers active in asset management in the management of mutual funds or within mandates conferred by third-party investors.
Successful completion of the final exam enables the acquisition of a CAS Certificate and respective academic level training credits: 10 ECTS (1 ECTS credit corresponds to approximately 25-30 hours of work). The Certificate is issued by USI jointly with CSVN.
The introductory propaedeutic module "Statistics applied to finance" is characterized by blended learning.
Selected modules are recognized as accredited trainings by VSV I ASG.
The training course has been included by the BX Swiss Register of Client Advisors in the list of trainings suitable for providing the specialized knowledge required for the activity under Art. 6 LSerFi.
