About

Description

The University of Lucerne is the youngest university in Switzerland. Its roots date back to 1600, but it has only existed as a modern university since 2000. Its core competencies include the sciences of religion, society, culture, law, economics and health.

The University of Lucerne consists of the four faculties of Theology, Cultural and Social Sciences, Law, Economics and the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine. A special feature is its striving for networking: in research, teaching and services, it creates links between denominations and religions, between times and cultures, between philosophy, politics, law and economics. Due to its late foundation and regional as well as national integration, its role is that of a small scientific institution. It claims a leading position for tertiary education in Central Switzerland, is a player in the fields of "scientific research", "education" and "further education", and is a distinguishing factor in the living and economic area of Central Switzerland as well as a motor of regional development.
