Description

The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is the largest art academy in Switzerland and one of the largest in Europe. It was created in 2007 from the merger of the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst (HGKZ) and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater (HMT). Since September 2014, almost the entire university has been housed at the new location in the Toni-Areal in Zurich West. The ZHdK is a state university and one of the four sub-schools of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZFH). The ZHdK offers bachelor's and master's degree programs as well as continuing education in the fields of art, design, music, mediation, theater, film, dance and transdisciplinarity. It is also active in research and conducts primarily artistic research and design research. Affiliated to the ZHdK are the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, the Theater der Künste, the music club Mehrspur and the Media and Information Center MIZ.
