Psychology studies human behavior and experience. The study of psychology follows empirical science and is interdisciplinary (social sciences, humanities and natural sciences). The degree opens up a wide range of fields of work in the areas of health, social affairs, work, education and research.
The course focuses on teaching empirically based specialist knowledge as well as experimental and methodological principles. Theories and the models and hypotheses derived from them are tested. Quantitative and qualitative methods (experiments, observations, questionnaires) are used to examine visible behavior in order to draw conclusions about invisible phenomena and inner experience from the data collected. Mathematical and descriptive statistics is one of the most important tools in psychology.
Studying psychology - and then what?
Since psychology is the science of human experience and behavior, there is no predefined professional field. Rather, psychological fields of work can be found wherever people communicate with each other. The professional field is correspondingly wide-ranging. In addition, the Bachelor's degree opens the door to further Master's studies, which can also be completed at FernUni Switzerland.
