The part-time course to become an automation specialist builds on a vocational apprenticeship in a technical direction. The training is modular and lasts two years if attended consecutively. At the end of each module, a "Module Learning Objective Check" MLZ is carried out. Those who also pass the one-day final examination at the end are awarded the Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence in Automation.
The broad, practice-oriented training enables students to set up, operate and maintain automated machines and systems.
As an automation specialist, you will assemble machines or systems that are automated. You put them into operation, optimize them and instruct the operating personnel.
In an SME, you are responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of automated production systems. You will carry out service and repair work independently and as part of a team.
As an automation specialist, you will be involved in the planning and development of projects at the implementation level. You will perform an interdisciplinary specialist function in the field of automation.
The following persons are admitted to the final examination
a) is in possession of a federal certificate of proficiency in a technical vocational basic training or an equivalent certificate and can prove two years of practical work in an area of application of the automation specialists
or
b) is in possession of a federal certificate of proficiency in another basic vocational training or an equivalent qualification and can demonstrate four years of practical experience, three years of which must have been spent in the field of automatic control specialists.
or
c) has eight years of practical experience, three of which must have been in the field of automatic control specialists.
and
d) has the required module qualifications or equivalence certificates.
