Description

Civil engineers create sustainable works that are essential for society. These include, among others, buildings, bridges, tunnels, road and rail networks, sewage systems, wastewater treatment plants, dams and revitalization of watercourses.

Structures, foundation engineering and soil mechanics, hydraulics, mobility and traffic, environment, economy and interpersonal relations are at the core of civil engineering.

Civil engineers are responsible for the analysis, planning and execution of projects:

  • Structures and civil engineering
  • Underground and special civil engineering
  • Drinking water supply and sewage disposal
  • Mobility and transport planning, and development of transport networks
  • Spatial planning
  • Prevention of natural disasters

Civil engineers work in engineering offices on planning and calculations, and on the construction site in execution, where they control and coordinate the work. They coordinate and chair meetings with the various players in the construction industry (architects, clients, authorities, etc.).

Requirements

  • Vocational baccalaureate with EFZ in the field of the chosen field of study
  • Gymnasium baccalaureate with one year of professional world experience
