The FSPC I program qualifies students to teach 1st to 3rd grade students at the secondary level I and is completed with the Master of Arts PH Lucerne in Secondary Education. The teaching diploma for secondary level I is recognized by the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) and is valid throughout Switzerland.
The standard duration of study for full-time study is 4½ years. The study program is divided into a basic year, 2 years of bachelor's studies (intermediate degree) and 1½ years of master's studies and aims at building up the professional competencies required for the profession of a SEK-I teacher.

For persons who do not meet the requirements for direct admission, the PH Luzern offers an extended admission procedure with an entrance examination that corresponds to the Passerelle for Berufsmatura requirement level. The preparatory course helps those interested to prepare optimally for the entrance examination level II. For persons who have completed a technical, commercial, business or diploma secondary school, attendance of the preparatory course is compulsory if they do not have at least two years of professional experience.
The PH Luzern offers the admission procedure "sur dossier" for the teacher training program for lateral entrants without a high school diploma. After passing a two-stage admission procedure, you will be admitted to study kindergarten/lower school, primary school or lower secondary school at the PH Luzern.
