Description
You will receive a sound knowledge of business administration that can be applied in practice. This is complemented by your chosen specialization (Banking & Finance, Digital Business & AI Management or International Business). In addition to the carefully supported business management expertise, methodological diversity plays an important role here: you will receive a toolbox that allows you to independently solve complex business management issues, manage projects in a practical and efficient manner, and acquire the constantly changing knowledge in a goal-oriented and competent manner.
The flexible study program
We know from experience how eminently important it is to achieve a high degree of compatibility between studies, work and private life. The HWZ study program therefore offers a great deal of flexibility. The teaching materials are available online at all times. Another advantage of the HWZ is its central location directly at Zurich's main train station, with optimal public transport connections and short distances. This allows you to work at the recommended 80 percent workload during your studies - for the benefit of your financial independence.
The personal study program
At the HWZ, you will learn in small study groups - intensively, effectively, flexibly in terms of time and under the close supervision of the lecturers. Our lecturers take the time to listen to your specific concerns and explain the contents of the course in a personal discussion with you. As this is a part-time course of study, great importance is attached to real-life practical relevance - not least by including your own business cases. In addition to imparting in-depth specialist knowledge, expertise and comprehensive social skills, specific, individual career coaching with an external partner is an integral part of the program. In this way, HWZ graduates often take a decisive next step in their careers not only after, but already during their studies!
Objectives and perspectives
Our business studies program prepares you to take on a demanding specialist and/or management function in the broad field of business administration. We develop your social competence and increase your leadership skills so that you are fit, for example, to take on your first management functions in a team. You will be equipped with valuable long-term skills that will open the doors to a wide range of exciting and challenging activities.
Structure and content
This program promises four exciting years, characterized by an active exchange of knowledge with lecturers and fellow students. You can apply what you have learned directly in your company. The total of 180 ECTS credits therefore also includes the active transfer of knowledge into your professional practice.
The material taught in both the undergraduate and graduate programs is characterized by current business know-how and supplemented by methodological and personal skills. Current topics in your studies include, for example, digital and mobile business, social media and innovation management. In addition, we attach great importance to a balanced planning of the examination dates.
Contents 1st - 6th semester | basic and advanced studies
The Business Administration program consists of numerous modules (see module overview). In order to break up load peaks during the semester, the written examinations take place quarterly. In order to enable the practical interconnection of the contents, various topics are spread over the entire course of study.
Choose the one that suits you best from a variety of time options. Classes are held on a fixed weekday or two evenings. In addition, there are up to 6 block days per semester, at least 4 of which are on a Saturday.
In order to ensure planning reliability, the block days and time slots once chosen usually remain the same until you choose your major in the 7th semester.
The application of competencies always takes place in a context. Accordingly, it is effective if the acquisition of important key competencies also takes place in application. The study of the first six semesters is therefore divided into three main topics "Business & Leadership", "Business & Environments" and "Analytics & Skills", along which you will acquire these competencies.
Contents 7th - 8th semester | Choice of majors
By choosing a specialization (major), you add a personal, special touch to your studies. The chosen major enables you to acquire additional subject- and industry-specific knowledge from the 7th semester onwards. Together with the Bachelor's thesis, it comprises a good third of the main course of study.
We offer the following majors:
- Bachelor of Business Administration | Major Banking & Finance
- Bachelor of Business Administration | Major Digital Business & AI Management
- Bachelor of Business Administration | Major Management in International Business
