About

Description

The CAS Cooperative School Leadership program meets a proven need in today's educational institutions: Schools depend on qualified principals for competent leadership. However, there is an increasing need for other people to participate in leadership. Keywords are cooperative school leadership, middle management and staff functions performed by teachers.

Diverse and demanding tasks

The canton of Lucerne has already set the course in this regard: School managements are relieved of teachers who are responsible for internal evaluations, for example. Steering groups support the school management, and most vocational schools have internal quality management officers. Teachers who are responsible for projects implemented within the framework of a school also assume a leadership role. Staff and line functions extend the leadership and, in their interaction, make up the cooperative school leadership.

Cooperative school leadership has defined structures, functions and committees. Responsibilities, roles and competencies are clarified. The persons entrusted with them are qualified for their tasks. Teachers who take on a function in this leadership system, or even a school management position, therefore face new challenges. And even at the middle management level, the work in detail is as varied and demanding as that of school management. The CAS KSF prepares teachers specifically for this work.

Individual modules can also be attended

Attending only individual modules of the CAS KSF makes it possible to qualify for specific functions. This allows teachers to qualify for limited tasks or to further their personal development, even without having to complete the entire training to become a school principal.

Requirements

Admission to the CAS KSF continuing education program requires:

  • an EDK- or SBFI-recognized teaching diploma and
  • at least two years of teaching experience Applicants without a prerequisite degree can be admitted "sur dossier" if they present a comparable and certified degree.
