Lateral entry primary school

The course is aimed at people with several years of professional experience who have a university degree or proof of comparable competencies.

The PH Zurich offers you

• a well-founded education with a carefully guided entry into the teaching profession at the primary school level
• lump-sum crediting of your previous education to the extent of 60 ECTS credits*.
• 2 or 3 semesters of study at PH Zurich: 60 ECTS credits*.
• 2 or 3 semesters of professionally integrated training: 60 ECTS credits*.

This course of study meets the requirements of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) and leads to a federally recognized teaching diploma.

In addition to the teaching diploma, the academic title "Bachelor of Arts" is awarded.

Study contents

You will acquire teaching qualifications for seven to eight subjects.

Compulsory subjects:

• German
• Mathematics
• Nature, Man, Society

Elective subjects:

• French*
• English*
• Physical Activity and Sports
• Music
• Fine arts
• Design and technology, focus on handicrafts
• Design and technology, focus on handicrafts Textiles
• Religions, Cultures, Ethics

Four elective subjects must be chosen. The requirement for choosing a fifth subject will be announced at a later date.
